A little walk through Sweden

Today I started week 3. It’s been two weeks since you drove me up to Helsingør (thank you so much Nina and Lise). Is it really only two weeks? I’ve walked about 300km and my days are getting longer. It’s getting easier and easier to walk. Is it hard? It certainly is at times, especially in the afternoon when I get both tired and hungry. I’ve found a rhythm that looks something like this: I get up early because I wake up early. I kind of go with the light. So I’m off around 8 o’clock. Then I walk for three or four hours, with small breaks every hour. Then I take a long lunch break of about two hours. I get something decent to eat and rest. Maybe I take a nap or read a bit or both. And then I might walk for another two or three hours. This seems to work well.

The body feels good. I’m actually a bit surprised how well it feels. At least I was prepared to feel worse. I got a blister under the forefoot on each foot on day 1, which I immediately treated with the plasters that my dear friends gave me for the trip (thank you Monika and Peter). Since then, the feet have been in top condition. They also get extra care every evening before I go into the bag. I can feel a little sore in the evening after a long day, but in the morning it’s fine again. I do some yoga stretches every morning and evening, so that probably helps.

So it’s going well so far. Although there are ups and downs in my mind sometimes, every morning I look forward to getting up and moving on.

So far, so good.
