A little walk through Sweden

It was a cold night. There were ice crystals on my tent in the morning. But I was very warm in my sleeping bag. And it’s so nice to have something warm to drink on such a cold morning, instead of having to drink ice cold water. I’m so happy again to have gas.

Since Bottnaryd I’m back on marked trails. First a section of Södra Vätterleden and now on Västra Vätterleden. Here I have to sing a song of praise to the Swedes. In these times of austerity, they prioritise not only maintaining but also upgrading their hiking trails. All the markings are freshly painted, new signs have gone up, some shelters have been renovated and tonight I found one that I think was built just for me. It looks like it was just finished over the weekend. I don’t think anyone has slept there yet. I’d be happy to be the first. I love those shelters. I love my tent too, but in comparison the shelter is a luxury hotel. So I’m incredibly grateful that the Swedes have their priorities in order. Thank you ever so much!!!
