Notes from the North

A little walk through Sweden

I had a wonderful afternoon and evening. It was a marvellous shelter in the most beautiful surroundings. There was a cold wind blowing and eventually it started to rain as promised and I had a great time being warm and dry in the shelter.

Today I was walking on to Mullsjö. I had booked myself into the campsite because I thought I would get gas there and I could also fully charge all my batteries, whilst sitting in the warmth  and not have to think about it for the next 5 days before I arrive at my cousin’s in Broddetorp.

The overnight rain had cooled the air quite considerably and the wind made it feel uncomfortably cold. I tried to walk quickly to warm up and it helped, especially on my hands.

When I arrived at the campsite, everything was closed. There was no one to be seen. It had said on the website that you can check in from 15:00. I even waited a little so as not to be too early and was there exactly at 15:06. It turned out that you had to check in by 15:00. Bum!

Well, I found the tent pitch area and set up my tent. Unfortunately, this meant also that I couldn’t buy any gas. So, I walked to town, which was two kilometres further on, but as it was Sunday, the shops that sell gas were not open. Eventually I found a can at the petrol station. Unfortunately only the large size, which will last longer but will also be heavier to carry. But at least I have gas again. The first cup of tea tasted heavenly and I’m looking forward to hot porridge tomorrow morning.

But I need to work on my timing! That’s for sure.

Good bye Småland

I saw two of those today. I guess they are from small adders?

Hi Lovey! Just sat down with a cup of tea to catch up on your last 2 weeks…. Wow, you are doing amazingly and look so well…. Shining and clear and light somehow….. ! I love your photographs….I have looked at the last few days in black and white ( my phone switches to b&w at 10.30 to remind me to go to bed!!🙂) and somehow they look just as glorious, maybe more evocative. So glad you are finding connections with people along the way…..
Everything has turned green here in Lochbroom and the lochs and rivers are sparkling too.
Sending much love northwards to you. X😘

Well, checking in by 3pm sounds a bit strange! It’s great to hear you had a hot drink at last.
